Captain Gerrit J Drost has the peculiar distinction that he left the Netherlands at the start of World war II on the last ship out (Delftdyk) as chief officer and brought as the captain the first HAL ship back in dutch waters after the end of WWII

  1. I, m very interested in the person. Drost. I remember my aunt was married with DROST . He left in the second worldwar, I thougt iT was Sweden or Finland. He never came back, they divorced in 1945 . She got 2 children, daughter and son The son is still living. He must be about 78 years old, he lives in The Netherlands.
    Is thuis a real photo of HIM?

      Yes,

      this is the only photo I have so far. Captain Drost had a family in the netherlands and he returned home after the war and lived in Holland. Drost or Droste is a very common Dutch name, so it would be difficult to find out if there was a relation in this case.
